Days Blue Potted Aster
Also known as Fall Asters, these are terrific favorites for autumn colour in the perennial border. Plants form bushy mounds, bearing loads of small daisy flowers. This is a compact selection with single bright lavender-blue blossoms, each with a tiny orange eye. Hardy to Zone 3. Blooms mid-late September.
Caring for your mums:
Our mums are grown in natural conditions in Lincoln, NE, meaning their bloom time will be true to their genetics - we don’t use chemicals or black cloth to ‘trick’ the plant into blooming sooner or later. We will strive to sell mums as they are budding, or before the full blooms appear, ensuring that you get to enjoy your mums for their entire blooming life. Keep the plant in the sunlight for blooms to appear at their proper time! Consistent watering is key for the mums. We recommend keeping the soil moist each day and watering the plant underneath the foliage in an effort to keep the flowers and leaves dry and to reach the base of the plant. Additionally, deadhead (remove from the stem) the dry/dead mum blossoms to keep the plant putting energy into producing new blooms and looking fresh! Under ideal conditions, your potted mum should bloom for 4-8 weeks!
Fulfillment:
Mums can be picked up from our farm (10113 Pioneers in Lincoln) at a designated pick up times (Sunday Aug 28, Labor Day weekend - Saturday & Sunday, and possibly another weekend depending on demand). If you prefer to have mums delivered, we have that option for an extra fee for Lancaster County residents only and they will be left on your porch with a text and/or email confirmation. Because mums are grown outside and thus subject to mother nature, there is always a small risk that mums could succumb to the elements. If one or several of your mums perish prior to delivery or pick up, a refund will be given for those that don’t make it to your porch!
